I grew up in Brazil where I spent a lot of my teenage years enjoying doing things by hand, building, painting and fixing things. I never thought i could do anything artistic. I ended up working as a physiotherapist .It wasn't until 2014 that I had my first pottery lesson at West Dean College with Alison Saunders.
I also did some days of training on the wheel with Sarah Miller in her studio in London.
When looking for a place to practice I came across the Create Space project in London which gave me the opportunity to explore pottery and meet other artists working with ceramics in many forms and techniques. I learnt about mould-making and different ways to create pieces.
I developed a friendship with the artist Nan Tran there, who answered many of my endless questions and helped me move forward .
I moved to Poole in 2015 and put together a small studio where I have been potting in my spare time, manly throwing on a wheel, experimenting with with textures and finding glazing combinations.
It’s been a joyful journey so far and after meeting local artists and learning more about the local pottery tradition I'm very exited to join the East Dorset Potters group.
